All The Rudest Things Interviewers Asked K-Pop Idols

K-Pop interviews can get quite controversial at times with either a lack of research or plain disrespect, and that has led to some pretty memorable moments that could serve as a guide of what not to do when interviewing idols.

During an appearance on Radio Star, (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon was yet another victim of uninformed interviewers as she was confronted with an uncomfortable and inappropriate question that left fans both shocked and frustrated. At the beginning of the interview, Soyeon introduced (G)I-DLE’s impressive achievements, including their seven Rookie of the Year awards and their first music show win within just 20 days of debut. Despite this, host Kim Gura seemed completely unaware of these accomplishments as he asked her how her group was doing with achievements.

Kim Gura bluntly asked: “Would we know your song if we heard it?” and continued to explain that, with so many rookie groups debuting, it’s hard for him to keep track of them all, as he said the line: “We only know that ITZY is a popular trending group.” Then, without any hesitation, he directly asked Soyeon the inappropriate question: “Are you on the same level as ITZY?”

    G-IDLE
    ITZY

Fans of both (G)I-DLE and ITZY were quick to criticize Kim Gura for his question, which many felt was unnecessary and disrespectful. Comparing two successful groups in such a manner seemed to downplay their individual accomplishments and the question even implied a competition between the two, which fans found uncomfortable.

Soyeon, maintaining her composure, responded diplomatically, pointing out that while ITZY had already won 1st place on a music show from a public broadcasting station, (G)I-DLE was still “working towards it.”

Despite the awkwardness of the question, Soyeon’s professionalism was highly praised as fans were left in disbelief over the lack of preparation from the interviewer, who seemed unaware of (G)I-DLE’s success, even after Soyeon had personally introduced them to the group!

It looks like idols simply can’t catch a break when it comes to unnecessary and unrelated questions, as Tomorrow by Together once found themselves face-to-face with American politics during an interview. Back in 2020, TXT joined the online KCON event where they ended up doing an interview on Good Day New York via a video call, during which, they were suddenly asked about Donald Trump’s political rally.

The interviewer brought up the event seemingly out of the blue, making it clear that even she wasn’t sure about the question as she asked the members: “Over the weekend, the president of the United States was having a big rally. And he thought a million people would show up, but a lot of K-pop fans said they actually got the tickets and faked out the president.”

The group was asked if they had any idea about the event that thousands of K-Pop fans had been arranging on social media, as it was a well-talked-about topic in the US at the time. However, the members didn’t seem to have any idea what the interviewer was talking about as their faces expressed shock and confusion regarding the question. Ultimately, Yeonjun seemed to find the best way of answering the question as he simply answered that they had no idea and were simply trying to prepare and practice for KCON.

Many fans criticized the interviewer for even asking the question in the first place, as TXT is a Korean group with Korean members, so it wouldn’t make any sense for them to stay updated on American politics, especially since they were only there for KCON.

Shockingly, the interviewer herself actually came out to apologize after seeing all the backlash on social media, as she had claimed to have seen it trending on Twitter and had had no idea it would upset people. Maybe she will do some more research so she can avoid situations like this in the future.

    [custom_product_slider id=’907871′]

When it comes to interviewers not doing their homework, it’s something that unfortunately seems to keep happening, and it’s always called out as a huge deal by K-Pop fans. Just this past month, BTS’s Jin attended a radio show interview where the interviewer seemed to be missing a pretty huge piece of the puzzle when she started speaking about how much she loved Coldplay. The interviewer asked Jin whether or not he had seen them live, seemingly without realizing Jin’s history with the band.

Jin then had to clarify to her that not only had he seen them live; but he had even performed with them on stage in Argentina. His song ‘The Astronaut’ is also co-written by Coldplay, which he performed alongside Chris Martin.

A lot of fans were understandably disappointed to see the surprise on the interviewer’s face since it’s usually expected that some research is done before asking questions. Netizens generally criticized the interviewer for this lack of attention, especially since it seemed downright disrespectful to Jin. One user commented: “With all due respect, it is a reporter’s job to research their guest. This isn’t our first rodeo together.”

Others even called the moment embarrassing since it suddenly became Jin’s job to educate her on a topic that she very confidently brought up and should have been aware of beforehand.

    [custom_product_slider id=’907873′]

Interviewers can definitely be extremely bold at times, and former Day6 member Jae once experienced exactly how brazen they could get when he was asked about his controversial exit from his former group.

When Jae first distanced himself from Day6, it was framed as something temporary as he worked on his solo projects, however, as more time passed and Jae seemed to have gotten himself into several controversies, it became quite clear that he might never return to the group. And it wasn’t long before the rumor was made official, as JYPE announced his departure from Day6 on January 2022.

In Jae’s internet space, it quickly became obvious that he wasn’t fond of talking about what had led to his exit, as he often shifted the conversation onto what his own plans for the future were. However, it seems like not everyone understood the implied taboo of his exit, as an interviewer once boldly asked him if he was still in contact with his former members.

Clearly taken aback by the question, Jae kept things positive as he revealed that they would only exchange texts “once in a blue moon”, but that he wished them well. However, despite Jae’s polite answer, fans were pretty upset about the interviewer bringing up the past as they felt it was disrespectful to bring up his former group when the interview was supposed to be about his current work. As one fan put it, it seems like Jae is very eager for everyone to move on from this time in his life, which is why the question felt quite tasteless, making things more awkward.

    [custom_product_slider id=’907875′]

During a press conference for their album ‘MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA’, BTS also faced an awkward and controversial moment when a reporter brought up a past plagiarism allegation. The focus of the event was on their latest work, but the surprise question revisited some claims that had appeared regarding their 2016 song, ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’, which many deemed inappropriate and irrelevant to the event.

The situation started when the reporter awkwardly phrased a question, clumsily bringing up the ‘WINGS’ album while vaguely alluding to the accusations by asking if it drew inspiration from another source.

Initially, attempting to give the interviewer an out, the members seemed unsure of what was actually being asked as Suga asked for clarification, saying: “Are you asking about the artworks that inspired our albums, especially ‘WINGS’ and ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’? Did I understand that correctly?”

However, instead of walking back his accusations, the reporter took a more direct approach by directly mentioning the plagiarism allegations saying: “I know this question can be uncomfortable, but I wanted to hear what you had to say about the claims of plagiarism involving ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’.”

    [custom_product_slider id=’907882′]

Suga, who maintained his composure, gave a short and professional answer to the question as he made it clear that the company was handling everything, ending with a firm “Thank you.”, officially shutting down the question.

The rest of the members appeared visibly taken aback by what had just gone down, and their expressions of surprise and discomfort echoed exactly what fans were feeling as they couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed either. While many praised BTS for their professionalism, there were also a lot of netizens who criticized the reporter for bringing up a three-year-old controversy, especially considering the panel was supposed to be about their most recent album and achievements.

    [custom_product_slider id=’907883′]

As many fans might unbearably remember, KARA’s Goo Hara once found herself at the center of an extremely uncomfortable and invasive line of questioning during a televised appearance. The incident unfolded when the hosts of a variety show asked Hara what type of question she feared answering the most and Hara candidly replied that she didn’t want to discuss dating, clearly setting a boundary. However, her attempt to avoid the topic was immediately dismissed, as Super Junior’s Kyuhyun immediately joked about her being the: “dating idol.”

Hara, who was visibly uncomfortable at this point, pushed her water bottle across the table in protest, shocking viewers with her actions, something which is extremely rare for idols to do on television. But rather than shifting the conversation, the hosts continued pressing her about her personal life. When Hara explained that her opinion was thanks to the media’s unforgiving coverage, host Kim Gu Ra came with an even more inappropriate remark, digging into what the media was saying: “Once articles keep coming out, people will stop caring so much. But I was wondering, your relationship doesn’t seem like it was that passionate?”

It was clear that Hara wasn’t expecting this much probing into the topic as she then immediately attempted to defend herself by clarifying that she was just busy with Japanese promotions at the time of the rumors surrounding her relationship. Yet, the probing didn’t stop as Kyuhyun added fuel to the fire by saying that if he were to speak, Hara’s career would be over. At this point, Hara’s frustration boiled over as she was even brought to tears, saying: “What do you mean, I’ll be over?! You can’t be 100% confident, either!”

The incident left viewers stunned and drew heavy criticism toward the hosts for their lack of sensitivity. Still, many pointed out that this kind of questioning was, unfortunately, a common experience for female idols during that period. Reporters have no excuse to behave this way, yet they continue crossing boundaries. Sadly, Hara isn’t the first, nor will she be the last, female celebrity subjected to invasive and disrespectful questions about her personal life, treated as if privacy doesn’t apply to her.

Whether interviews or not, people should remember that KPOP Idols are humans too. They deserve basic human decency and respect regardless of the venue.

  • Top 11 Most Anticipated K-Pop Debuts of 2025

Top 11 Most Anticipated K-Pop Debuts of 2025

Turns out bops after bops from no-longer-rookie groups are not the only ones that turning KPOP around. The K-Pop industry is gearing up to turn a fresh page and start a completely new generation of K-Pop as 2025 marks the debuts of some very iconic groups which we all jotted down for you.

    Table of Contents

    YG Entertainment New Group

YG Entertainment is known for cultivating powerhouses such as BLACKPINK and BIGBANG and it seems like they will debut yet another group sometime in 2025. However, many netizens are worried that this next group, referred to as their “next monster”, will have some serious competition since BABYMONSTER is expected to fully take off in 2025.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much known about their upcoming group, but what we do know is that the new project will bring a lot of charisma and stage presence that follows YG’s signature style.

    [custom_product_slider id=’907686′]

Pledis and Source Music New Group

Pledis Entertainment and Source Music are rumored to bring out two new girl groups in 2025, although this news was met with less excitement than expected. Since fromis_9 disbanded in December of 2024, many K-Pop fans think this is not the right move for the company, especially so soon after fromis_9’s departure from HYBE.

If you’re looking for HYBE Artists’ Fashion, we’ve got you covered:

    [custom_product_slider id=’907687′]

    Hybe and Ador New Group

A lot of K-Pop fans reasoned that HYBE doesn’t know how to manage their female artists properly and that they should focus on their active girl groups instead of launching two new ones. When it comes to the rumored concept of these groups, industry insiders suggest that Pledis Entertainment’s new group will focus on a youthful and refreshing concept, emphasizing the group’s vocal strengths. As for Source Music, there isn’t any information about the future group but seeing the success of LE SSERAFIM, the expectations are definitely high.

While nothing is set in stone or confirmed, ADOR is also rumored to debut a new boy group in 2025. Due to the scrutiny the label faced in the past, netizens are wary of the news and less than enthusiastic.

    Min Hee Jin

Apparently, Min Hee Jin isn’t going to be involved in this project which is why netizens are so conflicted about the news, claiming that ADOR without Min Hee Jin is just HYBE.

A lot of people are also worried that, due to the public’s negative opinion of HYBE, the new boy group could have a really tough time gaining support. Since nothing is official yet, it’s best to take these claims not too seriously!

    [custom_product_slider id=’907688′]

    SM Entertainment New Group

    Seunghan

SM Entertainment is staying booked and busy this year, with several groups making their debut, and while everyone is excited about the new groups, it’s safe to say that the most anticipated debut is the one of Seunghan, a former member of RIIZE. Following his treacherous time in the group, it’s finally his time to shine as a soloist. His debut is planned for the second half of 2025, and it’s apparently going to show a new side of Seunghan. While the news of his solo debut sparked some mixed reactions, especially from fans who have been calling for SM to put Seunghan back into the group, it’s safe to say that all of their fans are more than excited!

To add, K-Pop fans are keeping a close eye on the agency which is ready to unveil their new girl group. Following the explosive success of aespa, the agency is set to debut another girl group in the following weeks. On January 12th, 2025, additional details regarding the new group were released, and here’s everything we know so far.

    Hearts2Hearts

After teasing the new group during SMTOWN LIVE 2025, the agency confirmed that the group’s name is Hearts2Hearts, signifying the group’s strong desire to connect with fans all across the world through their music as they explore all kinds of human emotions and send out positive and heartfelt messages to the world. Since it’s been 5 years since aespa’s debut, the excitement is strong and the stakes are high. Many fans are excited to see which creative and musical direction this 8-piece group is going to take and what their overall concept is going to be. Unfortunately, no official information about the members has been revealed yet but there have been a few rumors circulating online about the group’s concept.

    Hearts2Hearts

According to online speculations, Hearts2Hearts is said to have a similar vibe as f(x), Red Velvet and NewJeans’ “OMG” concept. Allegedly, all of the members are really young with 4 of them being Korean, and the other 4 being foreigners. One of the members has already been going viral on Twitter for her pre-debut dancing skills. It’s reported that before she became a trainee, she trained at a dance academy. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long as their debut date has been set to the 24th of February!

    [custom_product_slider id=’907689′]

    MYTRO

Not only is SM Entertainment bringing out a new girl group, but they’re also trying something very different this year. Trot is a guilty pleasure of many Koreans and SM Entertainment is venturing out into this genre. Combining K-Pop’s modern sound with Korea’s traditional trot music, the group MYTRO is set to debut sometime this year. Their debut is already highly anticipated by many as entertainment agencies don’t explore genres such as trot music, which is typically liked by older generations.

Falling for a Trot-dol: Lovestruck Noonas

The five-member group was formed through the TV Chosun show “Falling for a Trot-dol: Lovestruck Noonas” and their pre-debut single “Bomb Bomb Bomb” has already racked up millions of views on YouTube. Since the industry is so saturated with young idols, it’s refreshing to see idols who are in their 20’s and 30’s.

    Shohei
    Tey

Some of the members also seem to have past experiences in the K-Pop industry. Shohei is a former SM rookie who unfortunately suffered a serious injury that many believe completely altered his debut plans. The group’s oldest member Tey was actually an idol before he joined SM as he originally debuted in the group MR.MR in 2012. In 2013, MR.MR suffered a scandal where one of the members departed from the group after allegedly conning a woman out of her money. In the following years, the group went through a lawsuit against their company, and two new members in the line-up, and possibly due to all the changes, the group fell into a period of inactivity and quietly disbanded. This led Tey to compete in the show Mr. Trot 2, eventually securing him a position in MYTRO. Their single is already a huge hit, and we can’t wait to see what they bring out in the future!

    [custom_product_slider id=’907690′]

    JYP New Group

While it seems that 2025 will be dominated by girl groups, a new boy group from JYP Entertainment is days away from their debut. The agency’s new boy group KickFlip is about to take the K-Pop world by storm with their cool and edgy skateboarding concept. The group was formed through the SBS survival show “Loud”. Their debut is fast approaching, with the group’s big day falling on January 20th. JYP Entertainment obviously knows what they’re doing when it comes to boy groups, as they have debuted some of the most successful ones in K-Pop right now, which makes fans even more thrilled to see KickFlip in their full glory. The oldest member of the group Kye Hoon has been a trainee at JYP for about 9 years and trained alongside members from ITZY and Stray Kids. Amaru is yet another member who trained under JYP, and YG as well, before joining the show LOUD. While the other members Donghwa, Juwang, Minje, Keiju, and Donghyeon seem to not have any prior experience in training, they were one of the winners of Loud and from their pre-debut track “Umm Great”, it’s very clear that their talent and charisma is undeniable!

    DE:VA

The rookie girl group DE:VA’s journey to their official debut has been troublesome, to say at least. With many fans excited and eager to see the girls become official K-pop idols, it’s very disappointing to see that the girls’ journey has been full of struggles. What began as a huge controversy regarding their former agency NA Entertainment involving inappropriate behavior towards the agency’s trainees ended in the girls’ individual controversies.

    Kia of DE:VA

Kia, who is a Senegalese-French trainee and a model, was slammed by netizens for creating inappropriate Pinterest boards where she piled up pictures of babies and labeled them as her and other K-Pop idols’ future children. Kia swiftly apologized to the netizens, stating that she was young and didn’t understand the consequences of her actions. Anna, also known as Mei, was embroiled in a controversy not too long after Kia was exposed for her scandalous past behavior. Because of the many issues surrounding the girls even before their debut, many netizens and K-pop fans are curious about how it’s all going to play out in the future. Their official debut was pushed to the second half of 2025 due to the members departing from the company, and fans are already wondering what concept and sound DE:VA is going to go for.

    [custom_product_slider id=’907691′]

    Chinese-Korean New Group

2025 will also see the debut of the Chinese-Korean boy group Polarix which was created through the survival show “Starlight Boys”, a collaboration between iQYI and SBS.

There isn’t much that we know about their debut or their concept, but we are definitely looking forward to their big day, as their debut is going to happen in the near future!

    More Debuts

After FIFTY FIFTY’s explosive departure from ATTRAKT, three of the members, Saena, Sio, and Aran, are making a fresh start this year under the name Ablume. According to the agency, their name was derived from the German word for flower, “blume” to represent the process of growing and blossoming. The agency further shared that through this project, the 3 members are aiming to “find their own unique colors based on their individual charms and potential”, adding that they will strive to create vibrant and diverse music. The group will operate under IOK Company’s newly established subsidiary, Massive E&C.

    Minnie

Minnie from (G)-IDLE is gearing up for her upcoming solo debut with the mini album “HER” and even though it’s still a few days until the release, K-Pop fans are already obsessed with one of the album tracks. The album is going to drop on January 21st, and the single “Blind Eyes Red” has been going viral on TikTok for quite some time. Many fans can’t get over the edgy sound Minnie’s gone for her debut and can’t wait to hear the album in full. The album is also going to feature a collaboration between Minnie and Yugi on a song called “Drive U Crazy” and we can already tell that this album is going to feature hit after hit.

2025 is definitely going to be a great year for K-Pop and we’d love to know which debut you’re most excited for!

    6. Industry Power Shifts and New Leaders

    • NCT’s Doyoung
    c. @do0_nct

  • KPOP CONCEPTS – Aegyo to A.I

KPOP CONCEPTS – Aegyo to A.I

Both nonfans and newcomers to the Kpop fandom have probably pondered this question: What makes Kpop so popular? or Why is KPOP getting more and more popular? We can’t deny that there are certain characteristics special to Kpop, setting them apart from Western music. From catchy melodies to intense choreography, and now even a bit of A.I (artificial intelligence) there’s no specific answer to what makes KPOP so attractive and worth fangirling over. However, one of the highlights of the industry is the unique KPOP concepts and their fashion.

Fans would know best that the most popular Kpop concepts are broad-ranging and require much dedication. Aside from aesthetic backdrops, idols’ iconic wardrobes make them shine and give them a powerful impression to fans. Their costumes definitely amplify their stage presence and striking performances.

If you want to know what’s the formula behind the most successful concepts in Kpop not just in fashion but also overall production, we’ll now cover the most popular ones you’d love to follow! Also, get to know the ins and outs of what exactly concepts or themes are in the context of Kpop.

    Table of contents

    [rf_widget slug=”in-blog-0″]

    What are Kpop Concepts?

Concepts are the specific themes Kpop idols follow for a comeback or as a consistent group identity. These themes are displayed through their songs’ genre and lyrics, their music videos’ settings and mood, and most especially, their costumes’ experimental style. What makes these concepts distinctive from Western pop culture is that the Kpop industry usually goes the EXTRA mile in exhibiting these chosen themes. Some Kpop groups even employ storylines that use futuristic, horror, or fantasy elements just to provide an intense impression.

Most of the time, the staff of entertainment agencies themselves are the ones who come up with concepts for Kpop idols to follow. However, idols themselves can somewhat choose their concepts especially when they also get to produce and write their songs (Take BTS, for example). Depending on their objectives, they may pick trendy concepts that surely appeal to fans or unique themes for a fresh and possibly iconic take and nowadays, fans can participate too by providing feedback to their fave group’s company (which we’ll discuss further later).

Kpop groups can either stick to their original concept or have more than one concept. One example of Kpop idols following a consistent concept is Dreamcatcher. Since their debut with ‘Chase Me‘ to their recent music video ‘BEcause,’ Dreamcatcher has never failed to give an intimidating and haunted vibe with their music style.

    Dreamcatcher - Chase Me
    c. Happyface Entertainment
    Dreamcatcher - BEcause
    c. Happyface Entertainment

On the other hand, Red Velvet is one of the trendsetters of contrasting concepts for every comeback. They manage to pull off an eerie and mature theme like in ‘Peek A Boo‘ and a cutesy and vibrant concept like in ‘Red Flavor.’

Red Velvet - Peek A Boo
    c. SMTOWN
    Red Velvet - Red Flavor
    c. SMTOWN

Given the diversity and creativity of Kpop group concepts, there is no exact number on how many themes are out there. Moreover, idols are continually debuting and they always have something fresh to offer to the audience. However, we’ll cite a few iconic concepts in Kpop that we’ve seen from many idols of various generations.

    Classic & Popular Kpop Concepts

Let’s start from the basics or we could say the most common concepts that almosta ll KPOP groups have already ventured. Firstly because they already have a reference from the older generation but secondly, because they are usually effective.

    Innocent and Cute (Aegyo)

This enduring concept remains a fundamental pillar of K-pop, especially for rookie groups seeking to establish their presence in the industry. It emphasizes youthful charm, wholesomeness, and relatable personalities that appeal to a broad audience demographic. The concept focuses on fresh, bright imagery and sweet, memorable melodies that showcase the artists’ natural charisma. AEGYO is literally what establishes a KPOP group. It’s like an unwritten rule.

Example: NewJeans’ “Ditto” (2022) revolutionized the innocent concept with its modern interpretation, establishing a new benchmark that numerous groups continued to follow through and build upon throughout 2024 and 2025. Their success demonstrated how traditional concepts can be reimagined for contemporary audiences while maintaining their core appeal.

    [custom_product_slider id=’714769′]

    Techwear

Aespa - Black Mamba (Techwear Ver.)
    c. aespa

Techwear is a prominent fashion trend in Kpop that combines comfort and streetwear style using the color black. While aesthetic comes first in the entertainment industry, you would see padded vests, combat boots, clasps, belts, and harnesses being the highlights of techwear fashion.

Example: You can see some of these on the techwear version of aespa’s ‘Black Mamba’ choreography video. All in all, this is the ideal outfit if you want to channel an edgy and dystopian future vibe. You can read more about this concept in our Kpop techwear article.

    [custom_product_slider id=’711564′]

    Elegant

    TWICE - What is Love?
    c. NAVER STAR CAST

Elegant fashion is a classic and foolproof concept that Kpop idols continually rely on.  Like in TWICE’s ‘What is Love?’ music video, this style gives a classy and even royal vibe that is sure to make idols stand out among the crowd. Despite looking fancy, the Kpop elegant concept is one of the easiest to mirror due to its traditional style. Heels and free-flowing dresses are its staples. Check out our article on Kpop elegant concept for more ideas.

    [custom_product_slider id=’711587′]

    Retro

    TWICE - Signal
    c. Soompi

The retro concept is a throwback to the previous fashion trends which are at least 20 years old. All the fun and vibrant notes of this concept are displayed in boldly patterned outfits and striking palettes, which can be seen on TWICE’s ‘Signal’ music video. With this iconic theme, idols revive old-fashioned prints and designs that prompt nostalgia. If you want to know more about this, you can read our article on Kpop retro concept.

The nostalgia trend maintained its strong presence throughout 2024 and 2025, with numerous groups paying homage to different historical eras through their music and visual presentations. This concept allows artists to bridge generational gaps while introducing younger audiences to classic styles and sounds reinterpreted through a modern K-pop lens.

Example: GFRIEND’s “MAGO” (2020) stands as a pivotal moment in K-pop’s retro revival movement, introducing a sophisticated disco-inspired sound that masterfully blended vintage elements with modern production. The song’s success sparked a wave of retro-influenced concepts throughout the industry, with numerous groups incorporating disco, synthwave, and classic pop elements into their releases throughout 2024 and 2025. ICONS indeed.

    [custom_product_slider id=’711642′]

    Girl Crush

BLACKPINK - How You Like That
    c. Soompi

The girl crush concept is a wide-ranging fashion that simply shows female empowerment, just like BLACKPINK‘s vibe in ‘How You Like That’. There are no specific items that narrow down the scope of the girl crush concept, but it can be identified as ‘badass.’ As long as these outfits make you feel confident and inspiring, your girl crush concept is on point! You can know more about this style here in our girl crush concept article.

    Dark Concept

bLACKPINK - How You Like That (Intro)
    c. @blackpinkofficial

The dark concept is an edgy and intimidating trend that may provoke a haunted, violent, or sexy impression. Again, black is the primary hue of this concept to bring mystery, power, and sophistication. This is another masterpiece displayed by BLACKPINK in ‘How You Like That‘. With such a timeless color, stylists rely on black for idols to exhibit a guaranteed allure. Know more about this concept through our Kpop dark concept post. Not only aegyo is the concept that keeps on giving but the dark concept has also been here as long as aegyo is.

    [custom_product_slider id=’714821′]

    High School

    STAYC - Stereotype
    c. STAYC

The high school or school concept is a fan-favorite theme that delivers a youthful and lovely atmosphere ( a bit similar to aegyo actually) . Just like the common East Asian school uniforms, short pleated skirts and white blouses for women are the staples of this concept. They are sometimes paired with blazers for a more formal look.  STAYC in their song ‘Stereotype‘ can be seen sporting cute high school uniforms.

    [custom_product_slider id=’713070′]

    Summer

TWICE - Dance the Night Away
    c. allkpop

A summer concept will always be the norm at least once a year for most Kpop girl groups (and happily, boy groups now too). For a fresh and more casual look by the seaside, idols show more skin with sleeveless tops, denim shorts, and flip-flops. Short airy dresses and flowers also make their wardrobe more fun under the sun. TWICE’s ‘Dance the Night Away’ music video is one of the best examples of this concept.

Another best example are THE BOYZ’ “Lip Gloss and Thrill Ride”.

    [custom_product_slider id=’774393′]

    Modern KPOP Concepts

    Fantasy

The allure of mystical and magical themes has grown stronger in K-pop, with groups creating increasingly elaborate fantasy worlds that blend traditional fairytale elements with contemporary K-pop aesthetics. This concept has expanded to incorporate various mythological traditions, urban fantasy elements, and original magical systems, providing rich creative possibilities for artistic expression. Groups implementing fantasy concepts often develop intricate storylines that span multiple releases, creating immersive experiences for their fans.

Example: Oh My Girl’s “Closer” remains a quintessential fantasy concept in K-pop, setting a gold standard for magical storytelling through music. Its influence continues to inspire new interpretations of fantasy themes, with groups incorporating everything from traditional folklore to modern magical realism in their concepts. There’s a lot of solo artists that ventured this concept too but the list is kinda long.

    [custom_product_slider id=’714864′]

    Sci-Fi and Futuristic Concepts

Now this is where everyone became more competitive. A.R or A.I, they’re all embedded in KPOP now (or safe to say in the music industry in general). The exploration of science fiction themes has become increasingly sophisticated in K-pop, with groups developing complex narratives that incorporate advanced technological concepts and dystopian storytelling. These futuristic concepts often address contemporary social issues through the lens of speculative fiction, creating thought-provoking content that entertains and engages (and fans can participate more).

    Examples:

    1. EXO – “MAMA” and Beyond: EXO’s debut concept of superpowers has evolved into a blueprint for complex sci-fi narratives. Their “EXODUS” album expanded this universe, introducing themes of parallel worlds and time travel. In 2024, EXO’s comeback “Quantum Leap” further developed their sci-fi concept, exploring themes of quantum mechanics and multiverse theory through their music and visuals.
    2. LOONA – “LOONAVERSE”: LOONA’s intricate universe concept spans multiple dimensions and timelines. Their 2025 release “Eclipse Paradox” delved deeper into this sci-fi narrative, featuring augmented reality elements in their music videos and live performances that allowed fans to interact with the LOONAVERSE in real-time.
    3. aespa – “Nævis”: Building on their AI concept, aespa’s 2024 album “Digital Frontier” introduced more complex AI ethics themes. The title track “Sentient” explored the philosophical implications of artificial consciousness, accompanied by a groundbreaking holographic performance featuring interactions between the members and their AI counterparts. aespa’s continued exploration of the SM Culture Universe (SMCU) with their virtual avatars has evolved into a complex narrative ecosystem, incorporating augmented reality experiences, interactive storytelling, and revolutionary performance technologies that have redefined the relationship between artists and their digital personas.
    4. TXT – “The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY”: TXT’s concept of youth in a magical world took a sci-fi turn with their 2025 release “Neon Genesis”. This album explored themes of virtual reality and the blurring lines between digital and physical existence, with music videos featuring stunning cyberpunk aesthetics.
    5. EVERGLOW – “Arrival of Everglow”: EVERGLOW’s 2024 comeback “Starship Odyssey” fully embraced a space opera concept. Their elaborate music videos told a story of interstellar exploration and first contact with alien civilizations, complemented by futuristic fashion and zero-gravity-inspired choreography.
    6. NCT – “Neo Culture Technology”: True to their name, NCT pushed the boundaries of their tech-focused concept with their 2025 project “Neural Link”. This concept explored themes of brain-computer interfaces and collective consciousness, featuring innovative use of motion capture technology in their performances.

    [custom_product_slider id=’715010′]

    Sustainable and Eco-Friendly

Environmental consciousness has emerged as a powerful force in K-pop concepts, with groups increasingly incorporating eco-friendly messages and sustainable practices into their artistic presentations. This trend reflects the industry’s growing awareness of environmental issues and its potential to influence positive change through music and entertainment. Groups are not only addressing environmental themes in their music but also implementing sustainable practices in their productions and merchandise.

Example: SEVENTEEN’s “Healing” campaign in 2024 represented a groundbreaking fusion of musical artistry and environmental advocacy, combining compelling music releases with impactful environmental initiatives. This innovative approach inspired numerous groups to integrate sustainability into their concepts throughout 2025, establishing a new standard for socially conscious K-pop.

    Interactive Storytelling

The evolution of interactive storytelling in K-pop has reached new heights, with groups creating immersive universes that enable unprecedented levels of fan participation through various digital platforms. This concept leverages advanced technology to create dynamic narratives that respond to fan engagement, blurring the lines between content creators and consumers. The trend has led to the development of sophisticated apps, games, and social media experiences that extend the K-pop experience beyond traditional boundaries.

Example: The BTS Universe Story app has inspired a new generation of interactive experiences, with groups developing increasingly complex and engaging ways for fans to participate in their artistic universes throughout 2024 and 2025.

    Melodic Renaissance

The industry witnessed a significant transformation in musical composition, gradually moving away from the chant-heavy structures that had dominated recent years. This shift marked a return to more melodically rich compositions, though not entirely replicating the dynamic melodic patterns characteristic of second and third-generation K-pop.

Throughout 2024, there was a notable increase in songs featuring stronger melodic hooks, with artists and producers finding innovative ways to balance contemporary production techniques with memorable tune structures. Some of these are: IU – “Celebrity” (2021), Red Velvet – “Feel My Rhythm” (2022), TWICE – “Moonlight Sunrise”, and BTS – “Yet To Come”. This renaissance in melodic composition demonstrated the industry’s ability to evolve while honoring its musical heritage.

Bright and Funky Boy Group Sounds

The exploration of brighter, funkier soundscapes continued to be a dominant trend among boy groups. Enhypen, ZEROBASEONE, TWS, and RIIZE emerged as prominent figures in this movement, each bringing their interpretation to the style. Yup, the 4th gen.

The saturation of similar-sounding releases led to discussions about the need for more distinctive approaches, even within established musical frameworks. Some groups managed to stand out by incorporating unique instrumental arrangements or unexpected vocal harmonies, while others struggled to find their distinctive voice in this crowded musical landscape.

    Signature Sounds

A notable development in the industry was the emergence of groups (not really) actively cultivating distinct musical identities. This trend involved close collaborations with specific producers to craft unique sonic fingerprints that would set them apart in the competitive K-pop landscape. While not yet widespread across the industry, this approach yielded some of the year’s most critically acclaimed releases.

SEVENTEEN. That’s it. Not to be biased but if you ask any KPOP fan which group comes to their mind when “self-producing” idols is mentioned, 99.99% chance they would mention Seventeen. This title has been engraved together with their name that it became a consistent concept making them to have more recognizable group sounds. Groups that embraced this approach often found themselves better positioned to build loyal fan bases and establish stronger artistic credibility.

    [custom_product_slider id=’715241′]

    Short but Dense Songs

The industry’s tendency toward shorter song durations persisted, but groups like TWS demonstrated exceptional skill in maximizing these compact timeframes. These artists proved that shorter songs could still deliver complex musical ideas, intricate arrangements, and meaningful artistic expression. This approach to songwriting and production showed how creative constraints could foster innovation, leading to more efficient and impactful musical storytelling. The trend highlighted the industry’s ability to adapt to changing listener preferences while maintaining high standards of musical creativity.

FIFTY FIFTY – “Cupid” (2023): Another example of a short but impactful song, clocking in at just 2:54 but featuring a full verse-chorus structure and a catchy hook.

Signature Concepts of Popular Kpop Groups

    BTS

    BTS - Dynamite
    c. @bts_bighit
    BTS - Dope
    c. @bts_bighit

As one of the most successful Kpop groups in history, BTS does not disappoint in showing ARMYs various concepts for every comeback. From their streetwear hip-hop fashion in 2013 to their elegant retro style in 2020, the seven-member boy group’s wardrobe has evolved over the years. While they may not have a consistent concept, one of the signature features of their comebacks is their versatility. With their outfits from ‘Dynamite’ and ‘Dope,’ BTS has proven that they can rock high school, boy crush, elegant, retro, dark, and other concepts perfectly.

    [custom_product_slider id=’715575′]

    BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK - Ddu Du Ddu Du
    c. BLACKPINK
    BLACKPINK - Boombayah
    c. BLACKPINK

By the name itself, BLACKPINK’s signature concept is girl crush by combining the coolness of black and the femininity of pink. Despite the various experimental styles BLACKPINK has effortlessly pulled off, their style still boils down to ‘badass‘ fashion that makes them so intimidating and empowering at the same time. Borrowing the elements of techwear, high school, and elegant concepts, BLACKPINK gives the iconic girl crush concept several spins. BLINKs can see this in all of the girls’ music videos, especially in ‘Ddu Du Ddu Du‘ and ‘Boombayah.’

    Red Velvet

    Red Velvet - Zimzalabim
    c. Soompi
    Red Velvet - Russian Roulette
    c. SMTOWN

Red Velvet’s concepts can be defined as odd with quirky outfits such as those from ‘Zimzalabim.’ Sometimes, they can even be dark with underlying murderous notions like in ‘Russian Roulette‘ and ‘Peek A Boo.’ Needless to say, their theme for almost all comebacks has a cute but creepy idea underneath. While elegant, dark, and retro concepts are also exhibited, the distinctive quality of their concepts over the years is timelessly eccentric. This works excellently in Red Velvet’s favor to represent their iconic identity.

    [custom_product_slider id=’715682′]

    TWICE

    TWICE - Knock Knock
    c. JYP Entertainment
    TWICE - TT
    c. JYP Entertainment

TWICE is one of the most successful Kpop girl groups that employ the classic cute or aegyo concept. Despite the Halloween or spooky storylines under their ‘Knock Knock‘ and ‘TT‘ music videos, it is clear that TWICE puts more emphasis on the cuteness of their music, choreography, and even outfits. While many would argue that TWICE is now slowly moving away from the cute and youthful concept, it’s important to note that their pretty and adorable characteristics mainly serve as their stardom’s foundation (Take ‘Cheer Up,’ for example.) Their cute concept is also an essential feature of their summer-themed comebacks like ‘Dance the Night Away.’

    The Best Kpop Concept

With all those popular Kpop concepts mentioned, you might be thinking about which one stands out among the rest. Truly, there might be some concepts that are more prevalent than others. However, the definition of ‘best’ in Kpop is multifaceted. Plus, with developments in technology, there are now endless possibilities of concepts in the future.

To nonfans of Kpop, perhaps the best concept is what Kpop is most popularly known of. In this case, the general cute or aegyo theme that gets divided into the summer, high school, elegant, retro, and other concepts is the winner for girl groups like TWICE. However, with the international recognition of ‘badass‘ girl groups like BLACKPINK and 2NE1, some may think that the revolutionary girl crush concept is just what everybody needs. For boy groups like Stray Kids, we’d often see the angsty dark concept dominating the industry for a teenage bad boy vibe. Along with that, techwear is famous for many Kpop boy groups like MONSTA X and girl groups like aespa sporting an edgy and futuristic look.

As you can see, just like the answer to ‘What makes Kpop so popular?’ there is also no universal answer to the best concept among Kpop groups. We’ve witnessed many Kpop groups rise to stardom while offering multiple and varied concepts. With that, for the best Kpop concept to follow, it’s entirely up to you. After all, one of the features of Kpop fashion is the freedom it gives you to experiment with different styles, even if they may seem bizarre (Looking at you, Red Velvet‘s Zimzalabim).

We hope you got all the most popular Kpop concepts you’ll need to dress like an idol.  If you still want more options, be sure to check out our post on Korean grunge, street, and club outfits!

  • How to meet your fave KPOP IDOL: Your Ultimate Guide to K-pop Fansign Events – Online and Offline

How to meet your fave KPOP IDOL: Your Ultimate Guide to K-pop Fansign Events – Online and Offline

We know the thrill of meeting your favorite idols up close and how fever of a dream it is to even just breathe the same air as them. Whether you’re a seasoned fan or just starting out, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know about joining both online and offline fansign events in Korea.

Picture this: You’re sitting across from your bias, their eyes meeting yours as they sign your album. Your heart races as you exchange a few words, maybe even a high-five or intertwined fingers. This is the magic and spark of fansign events, a unique aspect of K-pop fan culture that brings idols and fans together in an intimate setting.

    Table of Contents

    Navigating the Application Process

The journey to a fansign event starts with the application process. Here’s how it typically works:

    1. Stay Informed: This one’s a no-brainer. Official sites and accounts, that’s it. They usually announce fansign events here first. It might already be a given that you follow your favorite group’s official social media accounts and fancafes but not everybody get to have the time and energy to keep up with the updates. That’s why update accounts are there. And if that’s not enough, the search bar of the X app or threads is just clicks away!
    2. Purchase Albums: This is no news. As capitalists as it sounds, most fansigns require you to buy albums from a specific store during a set period. Each album purchase usually counts as one entry. That’s why the more albums you buy, the more chances you get. It’s still based on luck! If you don’t want to splurge, it doesn’t hurt to try with buying only an album or a set.
    3. Choose your platform: Tickets/Raffles are usually sold through Korean sites like Yes24 or Interpark for offline fansigns but for online ones, there are sites that hosts videocall events such as Apple Music, M2U, Synnara, Ktown4u, and many more.
    4. Create an account: You might need a Korean phone number or address! Exactly, “how dare they not consider international fans?” But worry no more because fans help each other out and assistance are also available around. If by chance you need a Korean number or address, proxies are now a thing! Consider using a proxy service and you can also find them mostly on the X app, instagram, threads or even facebook. We cannot recommend a specific one but the biggest advice you should take from us is that you have to also be careful in choosing proxy services. Make sure you check their reviews and quality of services before availing their assistance.
    5. Enter the lottery, Set an alarm, Wait for results: That’s it.
    6. Cross Your Fingers: Manifestations work so just manifest and hope for the best! Again, Winners are usually selected through a random draw. The more albums you buy, the higher your chances but again, sometimes, some people are just lucky to purchase as little as 1 album and gets to win so it still doesn’t hurt to take chances and try!

💡 Pro Tip: Some fans increase their odds by buying multiple albums. While this can improve your chances, always spend within your means! And don’t forget the mass buying of albums may contribute to pollution so don’t forget to be a responsible consumer too!

    [custom_product_slider id=’577427′]

    Tickets

If you’re lucky enough to be selected, congratulations! Here’s what comes next:

    • For offline events, you’ll typically receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to claim your ticket.
    • Online fansigns often require you to download a specific app (such as Kakaotalk) or access a particular platform. Make sure to practice and navigate the app thoroughly for smooth process (and make sure to have an extra device).

    Preparing Your Documents

For both online and offline events, you’ll need to prepare some documents:

    • Proof of Purchase: Keep your order confirmation and receipt handy.
    • Identification: A valid photo ID is crucial, especially for offline events.
    • For online events: A stable internet connection and a device with a camera. (Again, to emphasize, A STABLE INTERNET CONNECTION). You might also want to prepare an extra device for a “just in case moment”.
    • For International Fans: If you’re attending an offline event in Korea, make sure you have your passport and any necessary visas.

    [custom_product_slider id=’577453′]

    Fan Etiquette

Respect is key at fansign events. Here are some golden rules:

    • Most basic one: Be polite and follow staff instructions. Korean staff are strict so unless you want to get kicked out of the call or the venue, make sure to abide with all the rules.
    • Avoid asking personal or inappropriate questions (For your idol’s sanity, make sure your questions or sentences would also match their energy. We’re sure you’ve seen some cringey fancall clips online. You might want to avoid that)
    • For online events, ensure your background is tidy and your audio is clear.

Remember, your behavior reflects on the entire fandom. Let’s keep it positive!

And just like concerts, in order to get your fave’s attention, you can try dressing up like them too! And to save you the time & energy, Fashion Chingu got everything you need.

How to meet your favorite idol – Insights from someone who succeeded twice

Winning a spot at a fansign can feel like hitting the jackpot but you must understand your chances. Your odds depend on several factors:

    • The number of albums you purchase
    • The total number of applicants
    • The number of spots available (usually 100-200 for offline events, potentially more for online)

While it’s not guaranteed, don’t lose hope. Again, many fans have stories of winning with just one or two entries! (Also, don’t spend beyond your means!). So to answer your curiosity, the real deal is to buy as much albums as you can. Sadly, there’s no shortcut nor life hack. It really is a lottery.

Online vs Offline: Weighing the Pros and Cons

    Online Fansign EventsOffline Fansign Events
Since the pandemic, online fansigns have become increasingly popular. Here’s what you need to know:

Platform: Usually held via video conferencing apps like Kakao Talk or custom platforms.

Duration: Typically shorter than offline events, often lasting 30-60 seconds per fan. Other sites would offer up to 2 mins or more. It really depends tbh.

Interaction: You can chat, ask questions, and sometimes even request small performances.

Accessibility: No need to travel to the venue.

Cons: Technical Issues, Lack of physical interaction
Nothing beats meeting your idols in person! Offline fansigns offer:

Face-to-face interaction: A chance to see your favorite artists up close (but some organizers still uses a transparent barrier nowadays)

Autographs: Get your album or merchandise signed.

Photo opportunities: Some events allow individual or group photos

Cons: Higher Cost (travel and accomodation), Shorter interaction time due to logistics

If you need accessories whether you’re seeing your idol online or offline, we’ve got your covered! Browse our Accessories section to have a topic to talk about when you meet your fave/s!

    [custom_product_slider id=’577456′]

    D-DAY

    1. Be Prepared: Have your questions ready, but be flexible. And don’t ever ask inappropriate questions.
    2. Stay Calm: Take deep breaths and remember, idols are people too!
    3. Capture the Moment: For offline events, bring a friend to take photos. For online, learn how to take screenshots quickly or screen recording (be careful tho!).
    4. Express Yourself: Whether it’s showing your artwork or expressing your support, make the most of your time.

    1. Slim-Fit Turtleneck Sweater

    c. @todayis_wendy

One of the most versatile and year-round pieces to grace this list is a classic slim-fit turtleneck sweater. As popular as it is during the fall season, this slimming long-sleeved garment is a go-to winter piece even for idols. It is best for highlighting one’s silhouette, providing coverage, and layering. Plain-colored ones tend to get the spotlight, especially when paired with a coat, blazer, or sweater vest for a simple yet preppy look.

    c. @ivestarship

Red Velvet’s Wendy shows us a sleek and basic ensemble by pairing her black slim-fit turtleneck top with a pair of denim pants, adding some bling with a pearl necklace. You can also explore other hues like IVE’s Gaeul in a pink turtleneck sweater paired with professional black trousers and a classy crossbody bag. If you tend to dress simple but chic, these idols might serve some inspiration!

    [custom_product_slider id=’565213′]

    2. Leg Warmers

    c. @for_everyoung10

Leg warmers are a 1980s fashion fad revived by both the winter season and the Korean fashion scene. KPOP Stage performance this year has been filled with Y2K concepts which includes leg warmers. Generally worn to provide warmth for one’s lower legs and prevent leg cramps for dancers, leg warmers have proven their worth in K-pop idols’ winter style. They often come as tubular sleeves wrapped around one’s calves not just for functionality but also for fashion. Additionally, it is best paired with sneakers or loafers and shorter clothing.

    c. @nayeonyny

IVE’s Wonyoung rocks a pair of thick cherry-colored leg warmers with a denim skirt and a graphic tee with a similar motif. Matching these leg warmers with fur slippers also creates a cuter and more snuggly look. If you want a street-style touch, consider a combination of white leg warmers and white sneakers with a button-down dress and a loud parka just like TWICE’s Nayeon.

    3. Faux Sheepskin Boots

    c. @hyunah_aa

Perhaps there is nothing warmer for your feet than a pair of faux sheepskin boots to keep them toasty while treading snow-covered pavements. Aside from their provided warmth and convenience with flat soles, faux sheepskin boots are also cute and iconic additions to your winter wardrobe, especially if they come in a brown color. Their neutral hue allows our favorite Korean idols to easily match them with cozy and similarly neutral clothing for effortless fashion.

    c. @_chaechae_1

Some examples of idols wearing these neutral sheepskin boots are HyunA and Le Sserafim’s Chaewon. The female solo singer resorts to a casual dark OOTD with a black cap, pullover, and baggy sweatpants to pair her brown boots. On the other hand, Le Sserafim’s leader dons a lighter ensemble with a beige coat, a light plaid scarf, cream-colored pants, and platform sheepskin boots.

    4. Ushanka Hat

    c. @yerimiese

You might have been wondering for a long time now what these warm caps with ear flaps are called. These warm hats worn by some Korean icons are termed as Ushanka hats, which have their roots in Russia but have been popularized globally as a winter accessory. Apart from its unique design for styling purposes, a Ushanka hat replaces the need for a separate beanie and earmuffs for warmth. While this hat is traditionally made out of fur, knit versions and ones with brims are also favored.

    c. @skuukzky

Red Velvet’s Yeri gives us a warm yet elegant getup with a brown jacket, a black scarf, and a matching black pants combo topped with a white knit Ushanka hat for contrast. If you want a lighter alternative, perhaps Suzy’s beige hoodie, fur brown bag, and brimmed Ushanka hat might serve as inspo!

    5. Fluffy Faux Fur Jacket

    c. @for_everyoung10

And speaking of faux fur, you cannot have more than enough of it given the coldest season of the year. As one of the boldest Korean winter fashion trends, fluffy faux fur jackets are in full swing among idols. Light-colored fur jackets tend to emanate a regal, elegant, and expensive vibe. This explains why they are a common sight among rich ladies in Korean dramas. Moreover, they are best complemented with fancy jewelry and formal outfits.

    c. @itzy.all.in.us

Want the expensive aura of fur jackets for yourself? Then you can cop IVE’s Wonyoung’s equestrian-like coordinating set in black with a white blouse underneath for full-on elegance under a fur hooded jacket. Want to keep it simple yet classy? Then go with a classic white silk mini-dress under a beige fur jacket for a romantic and feminine look like ITZY’s Yuna.

    [custom_product_slider id=’429304′]

    6. Oversized Scarf

    c. @jennierubyjane

A scarf will always be handy to get you in style through any season of the year. Still, Korean idols welcome it the most during the fall and winter months as an excellent layering accessory for its comfort and thickness. To emphasize the latter, we’ve been introduced to oversized versions often in cashmere and with tassels for their aesthetic appeal. Its voluminous appearance also takes focus from your ensemble to create an illusion of a smaller figure. Neutrals and plaid are the typical scarf designs as seen on K-artists.

    c. @for_everyoung10

BLACKPINK’s Jennie prefers to keep her getup sleek and regal with black from head to toe, accessorized with an oversized luxury scarf. IVE’s Wonyoung dons a more casual yet edgy winter outfit with by exploring colors and textures, specifically through a black leather jacket, denim pants, and a light fuzzy scarf.

    [custom_product_slider id=’558748′]

    7. Puffer Jackets

White Chunky Corduroy Jacket | Jimin – BTS

If you want to spice up any plain top and pants for winter, puffer jackets are your go-to! This padded outerwear typically comes in a lightweight waterproof fabric that provides enough warmth but still leaves room for layering basics. It also emanates a sporty vibe that looks fit for winter activities like skiing and snowboarding. Fashion-wise, a puffer jacket is appreciated for its added volume to the upper body and below-the-hip length. In fact, cropped puffer jackets or vests are a cute trend nowadays too!

    c. @skuukzky

Want to play on the safer side? Then consider Suzy’s classic white puffer parka matched with flared denim trousers.

    [custom_product_slider id=’558747′]

    8. Crew Neck Pullover

    c. @roses_are_rosie

Still not over with the holiday sweater fever? We got you! Crew neck pullovers are excellent laid-back pieces if you wish to dress down and go about with any pair of trousers and lace-up kicks. While plain-colored ones are always viable, we tend to gravitate towards those with abstract and embroidered designs for a more creative look. Crew necks also give enough coverage, a balance between mock necks and round necks.

    c. @hi_sseulgi

BLACKPINK’s Rose rocks a fuzzy crew neck pullover in light blue with black pants and sneakers for a cute everyday ensemble. If you want an even more laid-back version, then you can channel Red Velvet’s Seulgi’s getup with knit embroidered pullover, baggy pinstripe pants, and sheepskin boots

    [custom_product_slider id=’576695′]

    9. Dark Overcoat

    c. @sooyoungchoi

Perhaps nothing on this list speaks Korean fashion more than long dark overcoats that we see our coolest K-drama oppas wear! This winter fashion staple is worn by both male and female Korean artists for an elegant, sleek, and sometimes mysterious vibe. If you want the cool and professional aura, consider pairing a dark buttoned overcoat with a black turtleneck sweater and boots.

    c. @roses_are_rosie

Starting with a casual OOTD, SNSD’s Sooyoung serves us a cute pink-and-white clothing combination under a neutral black overcoat for contrast. On the other hand, BLACKPINK’s Rose keeps her outfit monochromatic with a black sweater, a gray beanie, and a dark gray overcoat.

    [custom_product_slider id=’429308′]

    10. Knit Beanie

    c. @lalalalisa_m

The last year-round staple on this list of Korean winter fashion trends is a beanie to pair your casual or street-style fits. They are a classic accessory for your head. providing heat and protection, especially if knitted. Moreover, a knit beanie is perfect if you think your winter outfit needs a little flair to look complete. Idols are usually seen wearing beanies to match their laid-back looks.

    c. @lalalalisa_m

With her signature rapper swag, BLACKPINK’s Lisa is a big fan of knit beanies to enliven her fits. She wears a plain gray beanie to add a hip-hop touch to her cropped shirt and coat combo, and sometimes a white knit beanie with ears for a more adorable take with a snuggly pullover.

    [custom_product_slider id=’429309′]

    5. Lightsticks

KPOP Idols light up the fans’ lives in many possible ways and oftentimes, lightsticks are a way for fans to reciprocate this. You can say that this is counted as a concert essential but at the same time, going to concerts or not, lightsticks are a collectible item. For any KPOP fan, owning their idol group’s lightstick is akin to holding a piece of the concert’s electrifying energy, even when watching from home.

When choosing a lightstick, it’s important to understand the difference between official and unofficial versions. Official lightsticks, endorsed by the group’s management, come with high-quality materials and features like Bluetooth connectivity for concert syncing, making them prized collectibles. Unofficial lightsticks may offer a budget-friendly option with appealing designs, but they are not recommended due to the lack of official licensing and quality assurance. Choosing an official lightstick ensures authenticity, superior quality, and a meaningful connection to the group.

At Fashion Chingu, you’ll only find 100% licensed and official lightsticks, ensuring the best quality and true authenticity for every KPOP fan. Ready to light up your loved one’s world? Browse our selection by clicking the button below.

    1.Leather Jacket

What is fall without a Leather Jacket? A leather jacket is perhaps one of autumn’s special privileges, something you can truly enjoy during cool weather before it gets too cold. With warm days and chilly evenings, a leather jacket is the perfect way to stay stylish while keeping comfortable.

As seen on Blackpink’s Jisoo, try out different styles with just one leather jacket. The most basic design, the blazer type, is incredibly versatile and pairs well with almost anything, making it a perfect choice for every occasion! For example, you can layer it with a shirt and skirt for a chic look, or pair it with pants in a similar tone for a cohesive look. If you’re thinking about layering it over a coat, take a cue from Solo singer Somi and try a cropped blouson style.

    2. Flannel shirt

Next up on our roster of Korean fall fashion trends is the Flannel Shirt. Rather than flashy designs, the 2024 fall trend focuses on a calm and simple style. Korean designers have opted for classic check patterns this autumn, signaling a return to basics.

This fall, the check pattern shirt is incredibly versatile and can match popular styles like ‘Y2K’, ‘geek chic’, and ‘western look’. Style it with a denim skirt and ballet shoes like Red Velvet’s Joy, or keep it simple with black pants like ITZY’s Yuna.

Depending on how you style it with items like glasses, western boots, or Bermuda shorts, pull off a trendy look!

Tip: Koreans are already wearing these shirts on picnics to places like the Han River. How about adding a flannel shirt to your look for your next picnics?”

    [custom_product_slider id=’528310′]

    3. Knitted Cardigan

Fashion icons today are no strangers to layering cardigans. The Knitted Cardigan has been in the fashion spotlight for so long, there are even songs about it. This year, the knit cardigan look is once again set to be a hit. People who dress well don’t rely on a lot of items or complicated layers. So, what you really need right now is just one simple, slightly oversized knit in a beautiful color. That’s all it takes!

    c.fashionchingu

With the different types of cardigans to choose from, the top two popular ones are those worn by NCT’s Jaemin and Nmixx’s Haewon: the boyfriend and the bolero, respectively.

    c.fashionchingu

For a soft girl look, it is best to layer a flowy dress underneath a boxy boyfriend cardigan. Additionally, a tight bolero cardigan goes along with a ribbed racerback. And to catch up with 2024 trends, why not try a cropped cardigan or one that is uniquely designed, like a see-through or long cardigan?

    [custom_product_slider id=’528312′]

    4. Sweater Vest

As we venture into the world of layering, The Sweater Vest is a must. Since 2020, this “grandparent” trend has been taking the world by storm. What sets this sleeveless sweater apart from other trends is that it doesn’t take away from an outfit’s simplicity. With its low-cut neckline, it can be layered on top of a button-down shirt or a detachable collar. Try to play with different cuts and sizes to create a visual wow factor.

    c.VOGUE

Steal Korea’s hottest rising star, Byeon Woo-seok’s effortless look by coordinating blue tones, especially if you live in a hot climate. If you prefer a more polished look, like what Blackpink’s Jennie and Straykids’s Felix wore on the Korean variety show, layer a white shirt or T-shirt underneath.

Korean fashion fans are getting tired of loud and flashy styles. As a result, the new focus is on dressing simply.

    6. Mary Jane Shoes

In 2024, the Balletcore look gained popularity among K-idols. However, it was difficult for everyday Koreans to pull off, so it didn’t become a widespread trend. Instead, Mary Jane shoes, which look similar to ballet flats, started gaining popularity. In Hip spots like Seongsu-dong, super popular with Korea’s MZ generation, Mary Jane shoes are everywhere!

    c.for_everyoung10

Mary Jane shoes are known for their round toe and a strap across the top of the foot. These shoes are versatile, with IVE’s Wonyoung pairing them well with girlcore styles, adding a romantic touch when taking photos in autumn leaves. You can also wear them casually, like Red Velvet’s Seulgi does. The romantic fashion trends inspired by balletcore are expected to continue into the fall season, and starting with shoes is the easiest way to adopt the trend.

    7. Ball Cap & Bucket Hat

Elevate your outfit by accessorizing it with either a Ball Cap or a Bucket Hat. These two caps can add that extra element to any outfit, making it look more stylish and complete. The classic ball cap gives off a casual yet polished vibe, perfect for those effortless, laid-back looks. On the other hand, the trendy bucket hat adds a touch of street style, often seen on K-pop idols, blending seamlessly with various outfits.

If you want to add a bit more flair, swap the ball cap for a bucket hat to achieve that cool, K-pop-inspired street style. Take a look at the styles of Aespa’s Ningning and Itzy’s Ryujin!

Want more style inspiration? Take cues from BTS or IU. For a sporty, laid-back vibe, wear a ball cap with a hoodie and joggers, just like BTS often does. Recreate IU’s casual yet chic look by pairing a Bucket cap with a checkered shirt and denim for a relaxed, youthful aesthetic.

Whether you’re aiming for a dressed-up or dressed-down look this fall, these caps are the perfect accessories to complete your style!

    [custom_product_slider id=’528317′]

    8. Wide Denim Pants

Wide Denim Pants are continuously on the rise! Not only is it stylish and comfortable, but it’s also great for covering up lower body concerns. So, how could anyone resist wide jeans? From straight-leg styles to flared fits and cargo details, wide denim is expected to dominate the streets this fall. In Korea, comfortable and stylish fits like straight-leg and wide-leg pants are expected to stay trendy for the next few years, just as they were in the past, taking over skinny jeans. These days, it’s hard to spot skinny jeans in Korea.

    c.fashionchingu

Wide-leg jeans go great with oversized tops, suede, and check patterns, making them a must-have. Dark denim, like deep blue or raw denim, is perfect for the fall/winter season. You can also wear it lightly under a knit like BTS’ Suga.

Or try wearing different types of wide denim with your friends, just like NewJeans!

    c.newjeans_official

Tip: Thicker jeans are perfect for colder days. Denim will be a big part of this fall’s fashion, and thick jeans will keep you warm through winter!

    [custom_product_slider id=’528318′]

    9. Suede Item

    c.fashionchingu

What about investing in Suede, the must-have item for this fall and winter? The suede trend began last year, expanding from shoes to jackets this spring. A suede jacket is expected to become a classic item this fall, continuing the trend. Many clothing stores in Korea are already dressing their mannequins in suede jackets.

    c.hi_sseulgi

As seen on Red Velvet’s Seulgi, pairing a suede jacket with jeans creates a stylish street look. Alternatively, style it with a simple T-shirt and pants for a look inspired by Huening Kai or K-drama characters. That way, you’ll achieve a dandy look.

Colors are a great way to reflect the changing seasons. If spring is about fresh greens and blues, then autumn is all about browns.

Additionally, A Suede Bag is also a great choice. The suede material will remain in trend even during the winter, so there’s no need to put it away in your closet after fall. A suede bag is versatile, making it suitable for both casual and office wear.
Tip: Add accessories to your suede bag, just like K-idols, to express your personality!

    [custom_product_slider id=’528319′]

    10. Rugby Top

The striped Rugby Top, which was a staple on the runways of top designers this spring, is making a comeback this fall. A rugby top, known for blending casual and classic styles, originated in England as a way to distinguish rugby from football. That’s why, although it’s sportswear, it carries a certain refined and elegant vibe. If you’re looking for a lightweight long-sleeve option before the weather gets colder, a rugby top is a great choice.

For example, (G)I-DLE’s Shuhua styled her rugby top, featuring subtle stripes, with a midi skirt. Meanwhile, Stray Kids’ Bang Chan rocked an oversized rugby top. Don’t hesitate to play around with bold patterns, just like Straykids’s Bang Chan does. You know what they say: Go Big or Go Home!
